Join Our Team! Trainer/ Facilitator

Anonymous

Applications are now open to join our RJN Team as our Trainer/Facilitator.

The Racial Justice Network is continuing to grow its staff team to support its radical grassroots work. The role of Trainer/ Facilitator is crucial to the solidarity, support, organising and mobilising parts of our work. Black and Brown communities are not prioritised in spaces of learning, healing, community, solidarity and support. This role seeks to directly address this by holding and prioritising the needs of Black and Brown people.

    • Type: Temporary
    • Length: 2 years
    • Days: 3 days per week, based on 7 hours per day + an hour of unpaid breaks
    • Salary: £30,000 FTE (£18,000 actual)
    • Key benefits: Annual leave allowance, flexible working, training and support budgets

Key responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the Trainer/Facilitator will be:

    • Outreach: building trust and relationships with communities, listening to what is happening on the ground to support the creation of content and spaces of learning, solidarity and support
    • Facilitation and training: Responding to the needs of racialised communities by creating and developing bespoke content and processes for training programmes
    • Support and solidarity: Supporting the building of peer-led spaces for learning and support to continue outside of training spaces
    • Team collaboration: Working in collaboration and partnership with the wider RJN team to ensure clarity, consistency and to mitigate risk and practice ongoing accountability to communities both within and external to RJN.

Who are we looking for?

We would love to hear you if you:

    • Have lived experience of racism and other intersecting structural harms such as ableism, sexism, homophobia and ways of being ‘othered’ by systems of oppression.
    • Have a deep understanding and analysis of power, racial (in)justice, intersectionality and social justice, including issues of migration, internationalism and colonialism.
    • Are experienced in training and facilitation – from developing content to streamlining processes, working emergently with needs in the room and working with power and positionality.
    • Are experienced in community organising and/or activism in a professional and/or personal capacity.
    • Are able to work autonomously and as part of a team equally well.
    • Have excellent communication and project management skills.
    • Are aligned with RJN’s values and vision and mission and have the willingness to learn.

Application Process

You can submit an application in writing, audio or video. If your application is in writing, please ensure that it is no more than 2 pages of A4. For audio and video submissions, we ask that this is no more than 5 minutes in total.

Stage One: Application

We are interested to get to know you without the limitations of a CV. In your application, we will be looking for information about:

    • Your lived experience and how it relates to your approach to work, volunteering and life
    • Your specific skills, knowledge and experiences, specifically in the areas listed under ‘key responsibilities’ and ‘who are we looking for’
    • Your understanding of grassroots movement-led change in relation to the role of trustee of RJN in achieving its vision of ending racial injustice.

Please email your applications to info@racialjusticenetwork.co.uk with the subject line ‘RJN Recruitment: Trainer Role’ by the deadline: 12:00 Thursday 12 January 2023.

Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

We will only request a CV with relevant experience if you are shortlisted for an interview.
